Because I was born in the Mediterranean, Mediterran Love, Mediterranean route in the sun … are some verses of spanish songs inspired by the sea, that automatically let us think of summer, romance, joy and young and free spirit.
Getting married by the sea is a dream to many couples, and Spain offers a list of possibilities as long as our Coast.
I have already made a wonderful post about the wonderful weddings in the Balearic Islands (well, for a reason I live in Ibiza ;)), and the weddings on the Andalusian coast are included in another one; in both you will find tips on the subject that I take care of the most in weddings: “the ceremony”.
Now let’s talk about so many other corners of the Mediterranean Coast where a wedding by the sea can be a reality.
From a sunset wedding in Murcia (The Costa Calida, with Mazarron and Äguilas and including the Mar Menor and La Manga).
Boat weddings in Alicante (The Costa Blanca from Denia to Pilar de la Horadada, Calpe, Javea, Torrevieja or Benidorm, where, in addition to its well-known tourist enclaves, we still find hidden corners to achieve the intimacy you are looking for).
Marriages at the beach of Valencia (The Valencian Coast, very sandy, (ideal to feel its contact when walking), with wild beaches like El Saler, or more touristic ones as Gandía and Cullera and the options of the surroundings of the lagoon or the marshes with their bucolic touch.
A summer wedding showing off tanned skin in Castellón, on the Costa del Azahar, perhaps in Peñíscola for you to feel just as beautiful as the town does, as it holds the title of “the most beautiful villages in Spain”, or Benicasim, Oropesa del Mar, and the Natural Parks of Prat de Cabanes-Torreblanca and Sierra de Irta Park with their splendid maritime area.
Already in Catalonia, on the coast of Tarragona you can enjoy a super wedding as distances are short and a province with an archaeological site declared a World Heritage, the 12th Century Cathedral, the Fun Park Port Aventura and the splendid Costa Dorada with its beaches as Cala Fonda, Cala Jovera (at the foot of Tamarit Castle), Salou, Cambrils, Ametlla de Mar, or the Ebro’s Delta Natural Park, is ideal for a well-spent celebration.
We would be arriving at Costa Barcelona, where the sea is the starting point of a territory where you can enjoy very intense sensations. With a singular modernist heritage, impressive natural spaces and a deep-rooted tradition of wine tourism, it is the perfect cocktail for your nuptials.
El Garraf with its both peasant and nautical air, El Maresme typically Mediterranean, El Baix Llobregat very close to the capital, in case you move to the coast on your day but some guests can not stay to enjoy all night by the sea.
And if you decide to reach the top of our Mediterranean Sea, we would enter the very elegant and coquettish vintage Costa Brava, in Girona. What distinguishes the Costa Brava are the spectacular corners where spring and summer maintain that romantic air, so appropriate for a warm and vibrant wedding ceremony.
Pals, Tossa del Mar, Cadaqués, Blanes, Roses, Figueres, Empuria Brava (The Spanish Venice with its quite canals), are places where you can incorporate rituals into your ceremony such as pouring sand from a conch shell into your hands, symbolizing everything you will share in the future, or dyeing sea salt with colours that represent you and combining them in a third vessel will be very appropriate.
…Allow me to disembark on your dream Mediterranean wedding, in order to write and officiate the most dynamic, witty, romantic and unique ceremony (just as you are).
Because, as the song goes, your love, was cradled in the Mediterranean.
